چکیده

This paper portrays the various combinations of nanomaterials and matrix materials which were used to fabricate the nanocomposite laminates with and without fiber. An in-depth analysis was made on the various ways of preparing the nano influenced matrix and composite panels. In addition to this, an effort has been made to afford an outline of the impact of nanofillers within the matrix from the results of numerous tests made with the laminated composites. Conjointly, a distinctive estimation has been made to elaborate the material details, processing steps and also the impact of the inclusion of nanofillers.

Extraordinary synergy in the mechanical properties of polymer matrix composites reinforced with 2 nanocarbons.

One of the applications of nanomaterials is as reinforcements in composites, wherein small additions of nanomaterials lead to large enhancements in mechanical properties. There have been extensive studies in the literature on composites where a polymer matrix is reinforced by a single nanomaterial such as carbon nanotubes. In this article, we examine the significant synergistic effects observed...

Effects of particle size and weight percentage of heavy metal elements on photon shielding efficiency of reinforced polymer composites

Background: Polymer composites when reinforced with heavy metals in the form of micro/nano particles are efficient gamma- and X-ray shielding materials providing such advantageous features as cost-effectiveness, light-weight factor, flexibility, non-toxicity, conformability over conventional shields. Materials and Methods: In this paper the influence of weight percentages and particle sizes of ...

Open-Hole Size and Thermal Cycling Effects on Mass Loss and Surface Degradation of Polymer Matrix Composites

Degradation is a common problem for polymer matrix composites (PMCs) under low thermal cycling conditions. This paper investigates the effects of low thermal cycling on total mass loss (TML) and surface degradation of PMCs. Unnotched and open-hole specimens were weighed before and after low thermal cycling. The total mass loss and surface degradation of the specimens were studied over 250 cycle...

Effects of Reorientation of Graphene Platelets (GPLs) on Young’s Modulus of Polymer Composites under Bi-Axial Stretching

Effects of bi-axial stretching induced reorientation of graphene platelets (GPLs) on the Young's modulus of GPL/polymer composites is studied by Mori-Tanaka micromechanics model. The dispersion state of the GPLs in polymer matrix is captured by an orientation distribution function (ODF), in which two Euler angles are used to identify the orientation of the GPLs. Compared to uni-axial stretching...
